Third period power play
broken stick, save made Miller
Just sitting down to listen, son just put to bed
later than usual, we were having fun painting
Don't know who has the goals but the Lightning are up 3-2
Power play ineffective so far, trying to set up in the zone,
Hard if you spend all your time grinding on the boards
instead of dishing it around
I can hear my wife humming in the next room to help the boy go to sleep
the sound forms a gentle undertone beneath Dave Mishkin's shrill play-by-play call
Ten minutes left in the third, still 3-2
and time rolling by with neutral zone draws (Lecavalier has just lost two in a row).
The Sabres buzz the Lightning zone like hell until St. Louis works the puck out
and flies like a suicide bat down the ice into the far end, and then a flurry from Tampa Bay
save Miller.
It feels good to sit and listen.
Missed too many games already this season.
Pain-in-the-ass issues resolved and I can listen guilt-free.
Garon is holding the fort for the Lightning. What a good back-up.
What an amazing feeling to have a good back-up goaltender.
After the war of awfullness between Ellis and Smith last year,
It's a beautiful thing to have a really good back-up for when your aging warrior
figures our his bloody game.
Buffalo power play, the period grinding down,
Lightning maintaining the lead,
A grim defensive battle until Ryan Malone breaks in alone
after a Brett Clark shot block,
skates in untouched and scores of Miller,
and we're 4-2 with a minute or so to go.
And bam, the Sabres come right back with one, this time the Lightning can't clear
Gerbi gets the goal.
We go down to the very last.
Miller pulled.
Sabres attack and attack,
Stamkos clears at the last second,
and the Lightning win and sweep the home-and-home with Buffalo,
in Buffalo.
Third straight win for the Lightning, third straight win for Garon.
